Sculpture
Bronze
Knowledge of the Human form is integral to these sculptures and comes from a passion for drawing from life in many different mediums.
“The figures capture a moment suspended in the eternal present , which frees the viewer from the constraints of linear time.
There is no weighted history ,no expectation of the future. This is an invitation into a moment of physical existence which is both fleeting and eternal. The use of wax and bronze expresses the ephemeral as well as the substance of the moment”

Wax
The beauty of Wax is in the texture, the subtle colouring and the way the light affects the sculptures to give them life.
“Contemplation”
” Figure in contemplation” is modelled with a pale green mix of waxes which has a translucent effect .

Work in Progress
These three Bronze reliefs were inspired by the ancient Border Ballad of Thomas the Rhymer.
The first relief depicts the Fairy Queen, the Second, the Enchanted Forest and the third the apple of Truth.
Bronze Reliefs
The ballad describes Thomas encountering the Queen of Elfland who lures him into the mysterious green woods where he remains for seven years. On his emergence from the woods the queen offers him an apple which gives him the gift of truth.
These three bronzes in turn inspired the creation of a musical play written by John Sampson, Julia Munrow and Pete Bayne and were featured in the performance at the Scottish Story Telling centre and at the Edinburgh festival in August 2024.
